The Kangol effect

After the culvert pipe was removed it was found that under the walls on each side of the infill was a thick (8") slab of concrete. Between the two walls there was a thinner layer of concrete.

The plan was that we would use an electric "Kangol" breaker powered by a generator to break up the concrete and then remove the debris. Easy.

The effect, or rather lack of it, of over an hour's work with the Kangol

As you can see the Kangol was not very effective. Then the power failed, but eventually a loose wire or two was found to be the cause.

Chris explaining how well everything's going

Your webmaster had to leave early to go boating, but by the end of the day the Kangol was found to be very effective breaking the thinner concrete between the two walls. Hopefully we'll be able to make a start on the infill at the next work party.
