Vale Branch |
Firstly, I must apologise for failing to submit our “bit” last month but with all the summer activities that we are involved with, it slipped through the net.
The Branch has been trying to keep on top of the grass cutting through the summer but due to holidays and broken mowers this has been difficult. The hot, dry weather has helped though and reduced the grown. However, at our last Branch meeting, it was reported that all repairs and spares are ready to get our mowers back working for a big push to tidy up before the autumn is over. We hope to do this in September.
We will also be having a “session” in the Canalside Park in the near future to move the last of the cabins to the side adjacent to the steel container and to construct a small compound to store our wood and building supplies which regularly get scattered in the canal and around the park by our “little chums” the vandals. Hopefully we will have members of the Waterways Recovery Group to assist for a weekend.
The detailed technical plans for Steppingstone Lane Bridge are now with Oxfordshire County Council, Bridges Dept. for approval. Once received, we will begin with the rebuild of the bridge.
Although we have full authority to build the culvert at Tuckmill Brook, we cannot start the fund raising and finalised planning until we have a suitable lease on the land. Unfortunately, this seems to be taking for ever (over 3 years so far) to finalise. But we are ever hopeful.
For more information or to volunteer assistance please come along to one of our meetings held in the Shrivenham Bowls Club, Martens Road, on the second Wednesday of every month at 8 p.m. You will be made very welcome.
