Branch members win the Melksham quiz
The Melksham Branch quiz was won by Branch members - Richard (the webmaster), Chris, Orph (Branch Projects Officer) and Jan. This continues West Vale's domination of all Branch competitions. The quiz was very well run - the venue was excellent and we even had refreshments waiters! A couple of the questions were a little suspect, but they were generally a very good selection.

Branch members win the East Vale quiz
The annual East Vale Branch quiz was won by Branch members - Richard (the webmaster), Chris, Orph (Branch Projects Officer) and Jan. Branch Website Featured in "Waterways World" Magazine
The Branch's website has been featured in the June 2002 edition of "Waterways World" magazine. (I've always thought it the best of the bunch!) Each month the "clicking.on.canals" column has a site of the month and gives brief reviews of several others - ours was one of these and a picture of the homepage was included. Thanks to Jim Shead  - his useful website of canal-related items is at www.jim-shead.com.

AGM agrees to change the name of the Group
At the Group's AGM on Saturday 13th October a motion was passed unanimously to change the name of the Group from Wilts & Berks Canal Amenity Group to Wilts & Berks Canal Trust. The former Trust has become a Partnership and for all intents and purposes has ceased to exist. The new name will be adopted as soon as legal and bureaucratic procedures allow. Not quite so popular (but not voted on) was the announcement of a totally new logo for the renamed Trust.

Before the AGM, held at Foxham, members had the opportunity to visit local canal sites and take a boat trip. Click here for a report and some pictures.
