West Vale Branch
Dragonfly Branch Report
Spring 2005 (No.96)

Well as I said in the last issue, things do change, well some do and I’m sorry to say some don’t!

Good news first, we have finally received permission from Oxfordshire Couty Council Bridges Dept. to rebuild Steppingstone Lane Bridge. They have approved our designs, well rather David van der Cruyssen’s designs, many thanks David, without your help it wouldn’t have happened.

More good news is that Waterway Recovery Group are to hold a week long summer camp helping us with re-building the bridge, and with a further weekend camp from London WRG in the autumn we should soon make significant progress.

The usual boring maintenance jobs continue, mostly hedging jobs at the moment trying to fetch all the hedges up to a good standard before the bird nesting season so that we can then concentrate on preparation work for the bridge.

Now the bad news, not too bad though, just disappointing as its been tempered by actual progress on another lease. However the lease we had hoped would be signed in February stumbled at the final hurdle, there was that ‘slip between cup and lip’, but more negotiations with the landlords on site have proved fruitful and further agreements have been made, so we are still hopeful that this lease will be finalised soon. More paperwork! And the other is progressing – spring has sprung!

Lots more work in the pipeline – where’s the volunteers?
